Licensed Psychotherapist
Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Laurie Singer is a licensed marriage and family therapist, psychotherapist and board-certified in applied behavior analysis, who leads the successful, long-running Camarillo, CA-based Laurie Singer Behavioral Services, Inc.
Laurie, an exceptional and very experienced podcast guest, has devoted her life to the field of mental health with a clear vision in mind: to create a team approach for helping individuals resolve behavioral and other mental health issues by applying a unique combination of behavioral and cognitive behavioral therapies.
Her first book, “You're Not Crazy: Living with Anxiety, Obsessions and Fetishes” examines actual case studies from her practice to provide readers an understanding of therapy along with tips and exercises on how to serve as their own “therapist.”
Laurie is also a decorated endurance athlete. As an inductee in to Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame, she’s completed 28 ultra-marathons and is a 3-time Ironman competitor. And she’s not slowing down.
As a 64-year-old grandmother, over roughly the past year alone her accomplishments include completing a 3,000-mile, cross country bike trip, cycling hundreds of miles through Cuba, hiking the 500-mile Camino de Santiago trail, running two marathons and successfully summiting 19,000-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Her next book, due out in the Fall of 2025, will chronicle some of her outdoor accomplishments and near-death experiences to highlight the role of goal-setting and overcoming adversity to reach those goals.
She also heads the yearly Jacob’s Run, heading in to its 40th year, in honor of her young son who succumbed to cancer. The event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to create a special play for young patients and their families at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Laurie is skilled at conveying complex information in digestible language and can speak to most all facets of mental health – from conditions and symptoms to steps individuals can take to help themselves. She’s particularly adept with conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, OCD, depression, children/teen mental health and the many related symptoms of each.
Laurie has been a guest on dozens of podcasts and is a frequent and reliable export source to the mainstream media on all issues related to mental health.
